Driving Wedge, Sciatica
If you currently suffering from sciatica, then
you obviously know how driving to and from work
can cause a great deal of pain and cause your
sciatica to flair up at a moments notice. This
is not a good thing since the pain can be so
bad that you can't move at times. There is actually
a very high incidence of severe back pain of
those who drive to and from work. It is also
very high for those in occupations that require
driving for long periods of time, such as truck
drivers.
Have you ever noticed while driving that one
side of your body will go numb? At other times
you may experience stabbing pain or a muscle
spasm. The worst pain though is when you have
a sciatica episode and you can't focus because
you are in so much pain. Is there a way to relieve
this pain and prevent this from happening while
driving?
The answer is yes, it is called a driving wedge.
Sciatica patients are benefitting everywhere
with this great but simple invention. This is
a small cushion that you put behind your back.
It is not too thick or too thin. It will help
to alleviate the pressure that is placed on
the sciatica nerve from the position you normally
sit in.
You can find this driving wedge, sciatica relief
pillow, at any store like Walgreens or find
them online. It is simply a square shaped wedge
which takes the weight off you bottom and your
spine, where sciatica begins. At Walgreens it
is called the Seat Solution Orthopedic Wedge.
Sciatica patients are quickly finding about
this and it is now helping many on their commutes.
It is inexpensive and portable, so take it no
matter where you are going. Take it with you
on the airplane, the bus, if you plan on riding
with someone, take your wedge along.
This is also great for sitting in your office
chair, relieving a lot of the pressure from
your spine. Anytime you know you are going to
be sitting for an extended amount of time, you
should have your driving wedge. Sciatica pain
is relieved anytime you are sitting, not just
for driving. You may find yourself becoming
a bit attached this little pain reliever. |
Treatment
for Sciatica:Tip
#1
1. Ice - In the first 48 hours,
you need to use ice to help reduce the inflammation
which is around the nerve. This can help to
stop it from getting worse. Use the ice for
10 minutes, then off for 10 and on again for
10 minutes. Keep doing this 2 or 3 times |

2. Stretching – You have
a muscle called the Piriformis muscle. This
muscle has the sciatic nerve running through
it or along side it. By stretching this muscle
you are able to ease the pain quickly.

3. Pelvis Balance – This is
a great treatment for sciatica because the pelvis
is what keeps everything in balance. If your
pelvis is balanced, then the tension will ease
off all the other areas. You can do this by
lying down on the floor. Place your hand under
each side of your pelvis where you would wear
your belt. As you are doing this, notice if
there is more pressure on one side or the other.
If here is more pressure on one side compared
to the other, then your pelvis is not balanced.

4. Move – You need to keep moving,
not too fast, but move. If you sit for to long
at a time, your muscles will tighten much quicker.
Have you ever noticed that your pain is worse
in the morning after sleeping all night? When
you are able to move, this helps your pain ease
a little. This is why moving is an important
treatment for sciatica. |
